Stockwell House, Stockwell Street, Colchester
Stockwell House dates back to the 1600’s and is a very prominent and important Grade II* Listed building in the heart of Colchester’s historic ‘Dutch Quarter’.
The property was originally a house with substantial gardens but had been used as offices for approximately 40 years.
We purchased the site and designed and built a residential scheme comprising of sympathetically restoring the original ‘Stockwell house’ back to a 3 storey, 5 bedroom residence incorporating a modern standard of living into a traditional property with the delicate blend of old and new.
The modern additions to the rear were demolished and we constructed two ‘new build’ semi detached properties in keeping with the listed site but with a modern standard of living.
Being a tight town centre site added to the challenge.
